During summer 2019, we welcomed Amelia and Laney, two thoroughbred mares from Sound Equine Options. Amelia was part of a law enforcement seizure and had never been handled. She was rehabilitated by Sound Equine Options, but needed a permanent home. Laney had raced, but not retrained and ended up without a home. They immediately bonded as a pair, but unfortunately Laney died suddenly in January 2021. We’re not sure of exact cause; the vet thinks perhaps a burst blood vessel.
Amelia continues in the same pasture at Plum Tree Hill in our neighborhood and has been joined by other horses with mixed success (she can be a bit of a bully). Currently, she is happy with Atlas.
