Foaled in 1997, Evie began her career as an unsuccessful race horse in Arizona. Fortunately, she found a second career as a hunter and was a valuable member of a show barn and partner for OHSET (Oregon High School Equestrian Team) for many years. She taught several young riders horsemanship and jumping. Evie was injured in a fall and despite attempts at rehabilitation could no longer be actively ridden and shown. Unfortunately, she also foundered (for more information on this dangerous condition, read more here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laminitis#Founder ) and needed to retire.
Evie came to the sanctuary in July 2016 and is now pasture sound. Early in 2017, she took on a little light work and even made a trip to the Oregon coast. She’s feeling quite good and loves the extra attention.
